The Department of Tourism, in cooperation with the Departments of Health and the Interior and Local Government, assures the public that gatherings, meetings and festivals in the Philippines may proceed as long as preventive and precautionary measures are being put in place to curb the spread of the virus.
The safety of the public, especially the tourists and tourism sector workers, remains the top priority and as such, the departments have provided protocols and guidelines for handling guests in tourism enterprises such as usage of infrared thermometers for monitoring before allowing guests to enter, provision of hand sanitizers or isopropyl alcohol, and information materials on COVID-19.
“We encourage event planners and organizers to be more circumspect and to implement the guidelines prescribed by the DOH. Equally important is the role of the DILG and the local government units in enforcing and monitoring the implementation of the said guidelines to ensure the safety of our guests.,” said DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
